Tranquility is an promenade installation piece set amidst the backdrop of the library in Rose Bruford College. Today, the library environment may seem intimidating and unattracitve to the younger generation due to strict attention to rules, such as being silent, and particular methods and processes of searching for books and information. We wanted to break this barrier, which is literal in most libraries who put a physical boundary between the entrance and library space to monitor and restrict the movement of people within their space; especially as the library should be an environment of peace and learning. We transformed the campus library for one evening only to offer our audience an experience of tranquility, how libraries should be.
